- Johan Forsberg, regarding your message ' Re: Amiga emulator' -

-
- So, it will only display a subset of amiga modes then. 'PAL:Super-High Res
- Laced' is 1404 ╫ 566, and is available under the ECS chipset (amiga 500),
- according to my screenmode requestor. Thats in overscan mode, I belive..
-
- Even so, it's an acheivement. I still think it must use horrible amounts of
- ram and cpu to do it though...

-
- Could write an amigados program to do it.

-
- Sure have. But just to clear things up: I was talking about people not
- knowing what it would take to emulate the amiga properly, NOT the details
- of the emulator itself. I have not used the emulator. I just get a bit
- annoyed with some people belittling the amiga's innovations (dated as some
- of them are in the face of new developments in shear cpu speed).
-

-
- I would far rather see a version of amigados written FOR a SparcStation,
- not an emulation. But unless AT has hidden depths of intelligence and
- cunning - and money, I do not belive we'll see it.
-
- It's fast becomming acedemic anyway. The PowerPC chip, while good, is not
- fast enough. I think AT would have been better to go with a multiple
- platform approach - after all, it's really amigados itself that is the only
- thing worth saving from the amiga these days - in the face of super fast
- 24bit 3d graphic chips, DSP sound, etc. Amigados still has advanatges, and
- if it's upgraded well enough - people who like effeceint, fast and tight
- operating systems might well give it a go. Soon computers will be faster
- that ever though, and then every man an his dog will be running an amiga
- emulator in interpreted basic, and emulating msdos/windoze in a amigados
- script :-)
